Awen
Awen
This silver pendant consists in two potent symbols.
The Awen symbol is a design by the 18th-19th century Druid revivalist, Iolo Morganwg. Three rays deriving from three points of light, refering to the triple nature of the Druid path, incorporating the paths of Bard, Ovate and Druid.
The word can be translated as ‘’fluid essence’’ or ‘’flowing spirit’’, and it can manifest in a variety of forms. It’s the source of spiritual strength, prophetic insight, poetic inspiration. It is the sensation you can experience when interacting with art, engaging with creative acts or being in awe of nature. It is an opening of one’s spirit in order to deeply connect to all life around us, to be aware of the entirety of existence.
The Awen relates to water, since both are fluid, can be contained but yet have their own freedom. Here is where the Duck symbol connects to the Awen, not to mention that divine inspiration appearing in the form of a bird is a not uncommon theme in European paganism.
The duck has cultural and spiritual significance in many traditions all over the world. With its tranquil demeanor serves as a symbol of resilience, adaptability, serenity, prosperity, connection to the spirit world, marital bliss, femininity, divinity, fertility, motherhood.
